Who is the Best? Fred is the Best!

For a long time now I have been championing Fred Olsen. For many reasons, this fantastic cruise line never seems to disappoint. So it comes as no surprise that Fred Olsen Cruises have been voted by the British public as ‘Ocean Cruise Line of the Year' in consumer magazine Cruise Internationals first Cruise Awards......

The cruise ceremony in London was attended by 100 cruise line executives and hosted by Nick Hewer (see below, who has incidentally never been on a cruise ship). It was voted for by around 15000 members of the public on Cruise International's website. Fred Olsen walked away with the trophies for ‘Best Educational Programme', for its Vistas series of lectures, workshops and excursions, and ‘Best Live Performance', for its staging onboard of the glamorous singing duo, The Opera babes, whose album has topped the classical charts.

There were 20 other awards were handed on the night for categories including ‘Best River Cruise Line' (won by Viking River Cruises), ‘Best Luxury Line' (won by Seabourn) and ‘Best Entertainment' (scooped by Royal Caribbean).

So if you have never been with Fred Olsen before, why Fred Olsen? In a nut shell, there is not a 15% surcharge on your bar bill, and drinks are as cheap you are going to get on board a cruise ship. All entertainment is British and the whole fleet has a home from home atmosphere. The ships are not massive, but they have very decent facilities, excellent food and really cheerful, helpful friendly staff. As well as this, they mostly sail from the UK and visit very interesting ports. So Win Win!
